CARDUCCI ARTENISIO PALACE

PALAZZO CARDUCCI-ARTENISIO deserves our attention for several reasons. The picture emphasizes the beauty of its inside court, where there is an iron penthouse having an exquisite Liberty design. But the Palace, which measures more or less 900 square meters, was built at the half of the XVII century by Ludovico Carducci-Artenisio. The family has been living in the same Palace for three and a half centuries. During all these years the building has undergone several modifications. Today's façade was remade during the XVIII century.

At the end of the last century the entrance of the noble floor was also transformed following the Liberty style. So far the Carducci-Artenisio family has given 14 Mayors to Taranto. In Tuscany there are traces of the existence of this florentine family since 1300. Several of its members were Gonfaloniers and Priors, but the arrival of the Medici family forced them to go into exile. A part of the Carducci family established its new home in Taranto.

The Carducci-Artenisio Palace contains a collection of paintings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries and more than 6000 books. The great hall of the Palace is of an amazing beauty, decorated by the frescoes of Fracanzano.
